Stocksy Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Opticlon Technologies("Opticlon", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Stocksy Shopify application ("Stocksy" or the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and share information when you install or use Stocksy in connection with your Shopify-powered store.
By installing and using Stocksy, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
To provide our back-in-stock, price-drop, and coming-soon notification services, we collect information from both the merchant (you) and your store's visitors (your customers).
A. Information from Merchants
When you install Stocksy, we automatically access certain information from your Shopify account required for the App to function:
- Store Profile: Your store's domain, name, and basic contact information (such as the store owner's email address) to create your account and communicate with you.
- Inventory & Product Data: We sync product details, variants, and inventory levels to accurately trigger restock and price-drop alerts.
- Order & Checkout Data: We may process order data to attribute recovered revenue generated by Stocksy notifications.
B. Information from Your Customers (Subscribers)
When a shopper interacts with the Stocksy widget on your storefront, we collect:
- Contact Information: Email addresses or phone numbers provided by shoppers to receive alerts.
- Product Preferences: Information regarding the specific products and variants they wish to be notified about.
C. Device and Usage Data
When interacting with our service or widgets, we automatically collect usage information, which may include:
- Technical Data: IP addresses, browser types, and device identifiers to ensure the widget renders correctly and securely.
- Interaction Data: Metrics on how users interact with the notification forms (e.g., clicks, impressions) to provide you with performance analytics.
- Cookies & Local Storage: We use essential cookies and local browser storage strictly to remember user preferences (like closing a widget) and to ensure our service functions properly. We do not use tracking cookies for third-party behavioral advertising.
2. How We Use the Information
We use the collected information primarily to operate, maintain, and improve Stocksy. Specifically, we use it to:
- Deliver Notifications: Send automated email or SMS alerts to your customers when their requested products are back in stock, drop in price, or become available.
- Provide Analytics: Populate your merchant dashboard with insights on product demand, captured revenue, and subscriber engagement.
- App Maintenance: Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and secure our infrastructure.
- Merchant Communication: Send you important updates regarding your account, billing, or technical changes to the App.
3. How We Share Information
We prioritize the security of your data and only share it under the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We share necessary data with trusted third-party vendors who assist us in providing the Service, such as transactional email delivery services and secure cloud hosting providers.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or a lawful request from public authorities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Opticlon, our users, or others.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data or your customers' data to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Your Rights (GDPR & International Regulations)
If you or your customers are residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Access and Portability: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction and Deletion: You can request that we correct inaccurate data or erase personal data ("Right to be Forgotten").
- Processing Basis: We process merchant and customer data primarily to fulfill our contractual obligations to you and for our legitimate business interests in operating the App.
Data Transfers: Information collected through Stocksy is processed securely and may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your state, province, or country (such as the United States or Canada).
If a shopper wishes to exercise their rights regarding their data stored within Stocksy, they should contact you directly as the primary Data Controller. We will fully assist you in fulfilling any such compliance requests.
5. Data Retention
- Customer Subscriptions: We retain subscriber email addresses and product requests until the notification is successfully fulfilled or the subscriber requests deletion.
- Merchant Data: We retain your store data and configuration settings for as long as Stocksy remains installed on your Shopify store. If you uninstall the App, we will purge your personal and subscriber data in accordance with Shopify's data retention requirements (typically within 48 hours of receiving an erasure request).
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our technology, legal obligations, or business practices. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page or by sending a direct notification to the store owner's email.
